Resident’s question spurs parking changes in two neighborhoods

A Castlewood Ranch resident who lives on a narrow street recently asked the Town whether allowing parking on both sides of the street best served the public’s safety.
The Town investigated and found that fire trucks could have better access to homes in the area if parking was allowed on only one side of certain streets in Castlewood Ranch and the neighboring Founders Village.
The Town made a list of the narrow streets in the areas that did not have parking restrictions. Public input then was gathered to determine on which side of those streets parking should be allowed. Signs alerting drivers to the new parking rules will be installed by the end of February; the changes will go into effect once the signs are in place.
Not only will the changes allow for improved emergency response levels of service, they’ll also bring the areas into compliance with the Town’s Public Works Regulations and Fire Code.
Maps showing the locations of the one-side-only parking can be viewed at CRgov.com/parkingmaps.
